MISSION:
Westside International Soccer (WSIS) strives to develop youths using soccer as a vehicle to provide a safe place to play, connect with mentors, breakdown barriers, and empower participants to become leaders in their community and their chosen life pursuits.
WSIS is open to all youth players with a focus on providing refugees, at-risk, and low-income children with opportunity and access to free, safe, quality soccer programs regardless of economic means. We provide both competitive and noncompetitive soccer programs with a strong focus on the noncompetitive aspects of soccer that promote positive youth development.
RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS prioritize love of sport over love of winning, and teach life skills such as respect for others and teamwork. Players not only complete soccer drills and play traditional games, but also participate in guided discussions coaches and play alternative soccer games. Older teens are invited to participate in training to develop coaching skills and can assist WSIS coaches and volunteers on the field. Players are also encouraged to participate in other volunteer opportunities with WSIS and our partner organizations in their area of interest to gain valuable career and life skills.
COMPETITIVE TEAMS compete locally against other club teams in the Buffalo and Western New York Junior Soccer League (BWNYJSL). Players are selected for travel teams not solely based on soccer skill, but on effort, teamwork, respect for coaches and teammates, and overall positive attitude.
