WINTER INDOOR HOUSE SOCCER
Our winter house soccer program runs as part of the Buffalo Public Schools Strong Community Schools Initiative. Programs are open to different age groups depending on location. Groups are formed by age/skill level and players participate in a minimum hour-long gym session to individualized skill building and a greater amount of field time per player.
Additionally, players are taught an engaging, off-field, academic curriculum tailored to their interests. Subjects covered include soccer fundamentals, game play and tactics, soccer history, women and girls in soccer, best teamwork strategies, and more. Players and coaches then participate in an open dialog group discussion where all are encouraged to contribute and ask questions.
Registration for winter house program is limited - Be sure to sign-up early!
SPRING AND SUMMER RECREATIONAL SOCCER
Our Spring and Summer House Youth Soccer programs are free of charge and are open to the community. Soccer programs run most Saturdays from mid-May through August.
Whether brand new to the game or an experienced player, WSIS designs programming to meet the specific needs of each player to help them learn and grow in the game. The first half of each House session is dedicated to age and level appropriate, skill-building activities, both individually and as a group. After a quick break, players regroup on the field during the second half of the session to scrimmage each other.
Experienced, knowledgeable coaches guide players, teaching them the rules, tactics, and strategy of the game.
Our absolute number one rule for players is to have FUN!
Following the session, players cool down, hang out with friends, and receive a healthy snack.
PLAYERS MUST WEAR SNEAKERS OR CLEATS AND SHIN GUARDS. ALTHOUGH WE DO SUPPLY WATER ON-SITE, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLAYERS BRING THEIR OWN WATER BOTTLE.
COMPETITIVE TRAVEL SOCCER
WSIS offers competitive travel opportunities to players who are 13 to 19 years of age.
Each year, several teams are selected and entered into the Buffalo and Western New York Junior Soccer League, where they travel locally to compete in matches against neighboring clubs. The travel season begins in May and finishes late July.
Travel teams are also entered to play in several tournaments each season.
We believe that all children should have equal opportunity to participate in youth soccer.
Space is limited and players are selected for travel teams based on a number of criteria, including (but not limited to):
- Previous participation in our House program
- Respects self, teammates, and coaches
- Demonstrates positive attitude and good sportsmanship
- Works hard to improve his/her personal skill level and ability
- Plays well with a team and is supportive of teammates.
League and tournament participation costs upwards of $2,500.00 per team each season. WSIS covers the entire cost for players to play competitively. (This includes league fees, player insurances, uniform and equipment, transportation and other associated expenses)
We rely on the support of generous people like you to keep providing this opportunity to children who cannot afford the excessive costs associated with the pay-to-play youth sports model.
